A grade singles matches began with the 3 top rubbers with M Weinhengst, D Schulz & T Gripton all getting wins for Birdwood. Following this, it was “Jaeger time” with both R Jaeger and W Jaeger getting wins for Lobethal. R Jaeger in a great 5 set match. S Bradbrook winning a crucial rubber for Birdwood with the last of the first round of singles. In the reverse singles, it was a similar story with Birdwood winning all top three singles putting the pressure on the Settlers, now up 7-2.
