Geoff Symons
TVTTA LIFE MEMBERSHIP AWARDED 11th SEPTEMBER 2024 Geoff Symons has been awarded life membership of the Torrens Valley Table Tennis Association (TVTTA) during its post-match presentation following Wednesday night’s Grand Finals at Birdwood. Symons (and his young son Thomas) commenced playing for his beloved Lobethal Table Tennis Club in 2002. He has played in five A Grade premierships thanks largely to the skills of Thomas and other team members. He was Vice President of the Association in 2015 and has served the Association as Secretary from 2016 to 2024. He has been a crucial cog in keeping the Association running smoothly and always going above and beyond in his secretarial role. In accepting the award, Symons shared his thoughts on TVTTA being a competition in which players can enjoy being part of a team and club with family and friends, meet people and make new friends and try to improve and win; but that the result is not the important part- having a fun and relaxing time is the priority. His aim as office bearer has been to help make TVTTA a competition in which players look forward to playing the next season, and which attracts new players. Surrounded by like-minded people, there has so far been some success. In 2014, the competition had 54 players playing each week. This season, that number has grown to 140. Symons is the eighth TVTTA life member. |
