Torrens Valley Table Tennis Association had a rare win against Northeast Hills Table Tennis Association with the closeness of the two teams picked reflected in the final result 11-35 to 9-37.
It was the opening round singles where Torrens Valley ultimately set themselves up for the win bagging five out of the eight singles rubbers on offer. Three of these went to the maximum five games with Eric Harrison having to battle hard for his 10-12 11-9 11-8 8-11 12-10 win against James Phillips. Likewise Eric Jaeger played out a marathon match against Garth Wilson-Roberts with Jaeger coming away with a 9-11 11-9 6-11 11-7 11-8 victory. Audrey King had to draw upon her years of table tennis experience for her 8-11 11-3 11-5 4-11 11-9 win against Lia Ey.
The doubles were evenly split with two wins apiece while the reverse singles were evenly shared also with each team claiming four rubbers. Best on the night for Torrens Valley were David Schulz with three wins, Simon Hogben, Jaeger, King and Vaine Tamiau all winning two while for Northeast Hills Jamie Ey with three wins, Phillips,Frank Laskowski and Kimberley Wilkinson each winning two.
